Dr. van Es has won many awards that include an Inclusive Excellence Award – Ernst & Young Corporation 2009, College of Agriculture and Life Science Award for Promoting Multicultural Diversity 2006, Kendall S. Carpenter Memorial Advising Award, Cornell University 2006, and the Perkins Prize for Promoting Diversity, Cornell University 2005.

She is a current member of both the University Diversity Working Group and the Faculty Diversity Institute Planning Committee since 2008. She is a faculty advisor to campus fraternities including a women’s business club and was asked to present at Cornell’s Horticulture Seminar Series in 2009 on “Building a Diversity Program: Some Lessons Learned.” Dr. van Es has been a speaker at Ernst & Young’s 2010 “Campus Diversity & Inclusiveness Roundtable: Insight to Impact” in NYC and again in 2010 as speaker at the “Faculty Diversity Institute” at Cornell University. In 2011, Dr. van Es received Honorable Mention for the James A. Perkins Prize for Interracial Understanding and Harmony. She has recently become a Faculty Fellow for the Cornell University LGBT Resource Center.

Deborah Mann joined the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management in 2007. Ms. Mann is responsible for designing and implementing programming, delivering the Student Leadership Challenge™ to LCP candidates; managing, advising and evaluating LCP students in service learning projects; working with diverse students and clubs, coordinating and facilitating events, seminars, and workshops for the three BOLD programs, and designing/writing for promotional, grant proposals and website content. Ms. Mann has 25+ years of experience in business and non-profit organizations.

She also has taught adult community education writing courses, as well as students and adults through Cornell’s Adult University and Cornell Outdoor Education in sea kayaking instruction.

Madeline Cummings

Madeline Cumings, BOLD Office Assistant

Madeline Cumings is a senior Industrial and Labor Relations major, double minoring in Law and Society and Inequality Studies, from Redding, CT. This is her first year working as a BOLD Office Assistant where she helps plan events, maintains the website and is creating a database of minority women in business. She will also be taking care of organizational tasks around the office, such as maintaining the office calendar. After graduation, she hopes to attend graduate school and research university labor relations.




Tyler Hein

Tyler Hein, BOLD Office Assistant

Layout and Design of Promotional Materials and Event Coordination

 

Tyler Hein is a CALS sophomore double majoring in AEM and Communications from Denver, Colorado. This is her second year working as the BOLD Office Assistant where she helps design all of the BOLD promotional materials including flyers, brochures, and newsletters, in addition to all of the office administrative tasks. She also serves as the BOLD Office Representative for the BOLD Student Advisory Board. After graduation, she wants to go into Public Relations or Marketing, and one day she hopes to start her own business.
