About Us

BOLD logoBOLD is a unique program within the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management focused on building leaders who have strong communication skills, personal awareness and emotional intelligence, service learning experience, and exposure to inclusion and diversity education. BOLD seeks to transform its business undergraduates into effective, ethical leaders who are confident in their ability to promote an inclusive environment that values a multiplicity of diverse ideas. Through a combination of personal challenges, mentoring, educational/social events, workshops, and community projects, BOLD strives to provide the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management business majors with the knowledge, practice and reflection necessary to safeguard their future economic, social, and environmentally sustainable business decisions

Goals

  • To create and put into practice a culture of inclusion in the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management that will transfer our students’ academic experience to the workplace.
  • To insure that all Cornell students and our Dyson majors have opportunities to gain insight, knowledge, experience, and reflection on the soft-skills of leadership development that may not be covered in their coursework.
  • To instill in our business students the conviction to model ethical behavior and the confidence to practice sustainability in all areas of their lives, but especially in the workplace.

Objectives

  • To engage Cornell students in incubating ideas and collaborating across cultural/social identity borders and offer all grade levels an inclusivity skill-building seminar each semester.
  • To provide a demanding, targeted leadership development program to a selective group of students each academic year and offer all Dyson students a choice of eight interactive workshop/seminars focused on developing essential soft skills during their four years of education.
  • To provide a select group of Dyson majors with focused community service learning projects and to provide all AEM students with workshops or seminars that incorporate ethics and attention to the triple bottom line of economic, social and environmental responsibility.
